The Ashes of the Arab spring

By: Reham Essam

Five years ago, Six Arab countries protested in massive peaceful demonstrations to get rid of the
controlling rulers in 2011. In fact, the situation in all the Arab countries is getting worse every year.  Egypt and Tunisia are trying to build their countries although they find out many difficulties even from some corrupted people who wanted to put their hands in everything and exploit the
unstable situation for their own benefit instead of building their countries.
Egyptian at Al Tahrir Square
On the other hand, some countries have totally collapsed like Libya and Yemen, as their central states were powered by foreign policies and some parts raised the flag of Al Qaeda or any other flag under the umbrella of Islam.
Egypt is now yet struggling in many ways even before the protest began, and Syria half of its cities becomes ruins. The fertile lands have been frozen causing the death of hundreds of thousands in
Syria. Moreover, almost all Syrian immigrate to foreign countries in empty circle of blood every day.
Arab spring was a revolutionary wave of demonstrations which started in Tunisia in 2010 spreading
throughout the rest countries.
Egyptian protest against Injustice

2012
Rulers had been forced to leave their positions in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Yemen civil uprisings reached to Bahrain and Syria.
In Tunisia, protests began to spark after Muhammad Bouazizi committed suicide and President Ben Ali fled temporary government to take over. Hence, first election was held and Islamist Nahda Party won most seats in parliament.
Muhammed Bouazizi

In Libya, uprising against Mummar Qaddafi began in Benghazi and NATO imposed no-fly zone, after destroying Qaddafi's air force. Beside, Rebels captured Tripoli, the capital and Qaddafi was
killed.

In Egypt, people protested in Cairo against the rule of Hosni Mubarak. After brutal crackdown in Tahrir Square, Mubarak handed power to military council, and referendum showed strong support for parliamentary and presidential elections. Mohamed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood's Candidate was elected president and the parliamentary election ended by winning of the Muslim Brotherhood's
freedom and Justice Party.
Before Mubarak's resignation

In Syria, the protest began and 72 were killed by security forces in Deraa, also rebels launched
offensive to take Aleppo, Syria's second city. Aleppo is divided; government forces shell rebel quarters and population exodus. Regime began to shell Homs, the third city and Jabhat Al-Nusra
affiliate of Al Qaeda was founded in Syria.
In Yemen, after the protests began, the president Ali Abdullah Saleh promised not to seek re-election. Troops killed 45 protesters in Sana'a, the capital. Then, Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) captured most of Abyan province and Saleh left Yemen, ceding power to his deputy Abd Rabbo Mansour Handi. Election held, with Hadi the only candidate and AQAP attacked presidential palace to kill more than 26 persons.

2013
The government repression began in all the mentioned countries .For Tunisia; the political crisis resolved the constitution approved by parliament and Nahda government resigned. While in Libya, it was the first democratic election, independents took most seats in New General National Congress and Islamist militiamen killed US ambassador in Benghazi attack. Moreover, Jihadists declared
Derna under Islamist rule and rebels seized oil terminals in east.

In Egypt, Supreme Court ruled lower house of parliament unconstitutional dissolved legislature. After Morsi took over, many terrorist attacks had happened and he issued some new laws and canceled them as people raged on.
Rabaa sit-in

Many terrifying attacks had been occurred especially in Sinai. In other words, Egypt lost its control over this part this year. While the situation inside became worst, police dispersed anti-coup protest in Rabaa after a long sit-in and more than 800 persons were killed. Meanwhile, Muslim Brotherhood banned and new constitution had been agreed on by referendum also Morsi over thrown by military cop and Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the former army Chief won the
presidential election.

2014
I had a panic attack as a bad omen appeared in front of me. When the father of Vatican flied away two pigeons and two weird wild rooks attacked the peaceful pigeons in thanks giving celebrations. I
think my feelings were right!

2015
Terrorism spread all over the world not only in the Arab countries. But, it extended to foreign lands as well which claim to have peace, freedom of expression, and democratic governments. They planted violence in Arab youth and fund this .Consequently, they actually succeeded, but now is the time when the magic turn on toward the magician. In other words, we can call 2015 the year of Global conspiracies.

Once Upon a time in Paris: The father of the most famous tales around the world

By: Reham Essam

French author Charles Perrault was born 388 years ago on January 12, and has become immortalized as the father of the fairy tale as we know it. Google doodle celebrates his commemoration in 2016.
Charles Perrault, the author of Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella was born in Paris in 1628. However, he was a lawyer before being a famous writer.
Charles Perrault (1628-1703)

In 1695, at the age of 67, he wrote Tales and stories of the Past with Morals, a series of moral tales. Later on, the volume contained the story now known as Mother Goose, which includes familiar titles such as Puss in Boots, Blue Beard and Cinderella, and less famous stories like Ricky of the Tuft and Little Thumb. The book was enormously successful, and was translated into English in 1729 by
Robert Samber.
Cinderella
The shocking fact is that Perrault's original tales have lost much of their details today. For example, The Little Red Riding Hood changes the man into a wolf who intent on preying on young girl who wander alone in forest. In addition, Cinderella story has been represented till now using some edits that add new taste to the original story, whereas it carries out the same idea of a girl who treated her father's wife well regardless of her bad manners with her. In the end, the prince falls for Cinderella and weds her. So away from the romantic part, this story sends another message for the readers to have hope and believe in good stories and it will pay off.

Tales from the Past Times:
La belle au bois dormant (The Sleeping Beauty in the wood)-
Le Petit chaperon rouge (Little Red Riding Hood)-
La Barbe Bleüe (Blue Beard)-
-Le Maistre Chat,ou le chat Botté  (The Master Cat)
-Les Fées (The Fairies)
-Cendrillion (Cinderella)
Charles Perrault most famous fairy tales
Charles Perrault knew a lot of things, and he was interested in making life beautiful for people. When some noblemen wanted to close the Tuileries Gardens in Paris to everyone except the king, Charles argued that they should be open to the public, and they still are to this day. The king still liked him and gave Charles several positions, including looking after Royal buildings, designing and writing poems.

When Charles Perrault became a member of the famous Academie Francaise in 1671, he again
showed his love for people by opening up the ceremony to the public for the first time.
After the death of his wife he gave up his public life to educate their children. The astonishing truth that he was almost 70 year old when he wrote his first fairy tales in 1697! They were outstanding hits, and we get the most famous versions of some classic stories. Charles Perrault died five years later, in Paris in the year 1703.

Charlie Hebdo attacks: A look back at the three days that shook France

        By: Reham Essam

On the morning of January 7, 2015, gunmen opened fire at the Paris offices of the Charlie Hebdo satirical weekly, killing 12 people. The attack was the first in three days of terror across the French
capital that would ultimately claim 17 victims.

Yesterday, France's President Francois Holland presided over events at place de la Republique to
mark the first anniversary of deadly assaults in Paris.
An Oak tree, named the tree of memory was planted in the square at what has become the unofficial
place for public mourning for victims of the city's terror attacks, closing out a week of commemorations in France

Meanwhile, French singer Johny Hallyday performed a song written specifically in honor of victims was called "One Sunday In January" referencing last year's impressive march. Also, some people decided to name 7 January as the Cartoonists' Day. The tragic attack on Charlie Hebdo was not just an attack on one magazine; it was attack on the principle of free speech.
One year on, France continues to respond to terrorism by valuing the freedom of expression and the right to disagree

It sounds clear that the whole world is suffering from terrorism and we pray for all the people who
passed away in any shameful attack in different earth's diameters and may 2016 be the year of peace and love all over the world.
